Back to Santiago

Not much to report today. We had a wander round the town on Rapa Nui before getting our flight back to Santiago.  With a lunchtime departure and the time difference, we were not at the hotel until 9-ish, so we're scurrying out to find supper.  Another flight done (this time row 40 - but still the back row because a different make of plane!).

A bit of trivia for the day - the runway at Rapa Nui is ridiculously long; the passenger jets, fully loaded could use only half of it.  The reason - it was an emergency landing strip for the space shuttles and the extension to the runway was built by NASA in 1986!  Not sure when you might need such a piece of information, but there you go.
